Only have time to put in a couple short things. Chanel had a bad reaction to the shots and was back at the vet yesterday. Fever, not eating, lethargy.....awful. I felt so bad. They can't tell you when they feel bad or where it hurts. I have cried over this dog more than I did when I was sick. she is my sweet little poop! It just kills me when she is sick. She's a little better today. I hope she's back to normal soon. She is just so damn adorable.
Put more bags up yesterday. Actually last night late late late! Also got an order for a diaper bag from a really nice girl who liked the penpal bag. Things are looking up!

Nobody is looking
So....no one comments. No one looks I guess. I am writing this and wondering why is it I have all these hits on my page and not one comment. I would even take a "Hi, nice blog" or"hey lady....this is the dumbest thing I have ever read" or anything for that matter. Oh well...story of my life. I am even boring on the blogs.
Miss Chanel got her yearly exam today. Shots, heart worm test, blah blah blah.....all to the tune of $169.70. I almost fell over. And the best part. The rabies shot they give now in Florida is for three years. The vet said that it is the same shot they gave before it's just now they only give it every three years. But they charge more for it. If it is the same damn shot only it lasts longer why do they charge more. Oh well.

Other blogs I have read....

I went on the forums today.....I like to peek to see who is complaining about what or who needs help with what. I have learned lots of things doing this. Well today I saw a thread about who updated their blogs today. So I sneaked a peek. Everyone had a link to their blog so I looked at all the blogs.
I am hooked! It's like reading a good book you can't put down. with some of them I found myself wondering "what next?" I have never blogged before until Etsy. And I swore I would do this and keep it up to try to network. But these others make me look like my 12 year old journaling. I have so much to learn. But boy this is fun!
My Mom went to the store today to bring some merchandise in. I am so ticked off I am having a hard time concentrating on anything else. there is a woman in another venue who was making beach bags. Because of this I decided not to make large beach totes for the store. Nice me, right? Well low and behold she now has totes like my original tote and bucket totes and hipsters. Now...that's okay because how many shapes can you make a bag? The problem here is she has used the exact same fabrications I have. I never make the same bag twice. EVER! I don't want anyone to see themselves coming and going with the same bag. If I could take the time to pair my own fabrics....HELLO! I really look at my fabrics. I understand that Waverly only makes so many colors of one print and I certainly don't have the right to tell anyone not to put this stripe with that floral. But don't copy my stuff and then put it in your shop 3 doors down and under price me. this is one of those days when I am glad I haven't moved up there yet. I probably wouldn't have been as ladylike as my Mom was when she saw them.
Oh well.....I guess I am done crying now. Imitation is NOT the sincerest form of flattery in this case!
Oh....another one of my wonderful Mother's needlepoint canvases. She painted this for me but I never stiched it. Lazy, lazy, lazy! Can't you just see this stiched in silks and metallics?

Crazy unproductive day

No sleep again. I hate crazy nights like that. Sleep for an hour...up for 3...sleep for 2 then up and can't go back to sleep. UGH!!!!! so I ran and did a couple of errands....one of them being getting a key lime pie that I really had to have.....and came home. I was so tired I told my Gigi I was laying down for 20 minutes. Turned out to be almost 3 hours. Now I will never sleep tonight.
I have so much to do....so off I go. I wish someone would comment on my blog. I like to meet new people. Leave your email so we can say hi!
Look at Mom's canvas......this is one of my faves!

Sooooo Excited

Finally. YEAH!!!!! I did it! I sold two bags on Etsy! I don't think I have been this excited in a long time. It was so funny. I was putting up some elastic on the other store...Commercial Property.....and signed on to the Bag Ladies, Too store. I checked on the bags....they were all there and checked my favorites and sent a couple of convo's to those who &heart: my shop. (I like to say thanks when I see someone &hearts: me) I got up and did a few things in my kitchen and when I refreshed the page it was 2 bags short. The first thing I did was check the inactive items as I am a pro at deleting my stuff without realizing it. there was nothing there. then I looked at the shop and it said 2 sales. WOHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! I am so freaking excited! I even called the Mom part of the bag Ladies and woke her up to tell her.
So now I have to get busy. I asked Mom to take some of the bags out of the shop in Ashville until I can get moved at the end of the month. Crazy.....now that I am moving things will go nuts. Oh who cares.....I am not complaining! I am thrilled!
That's one of my Mom's "Oriental Ladies" in her shop "Needlepoint, etc." at geesmom.etsy.com. The whole shop is her hand painted needlepoint canvases. They are truly beautiful. You don't even have to stitch them. You could just frame them and hang them up. go take a look!

Wait...the dolls!
Another day....another "No Sale."
I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. I know my bags are really wonderful. I never make two alike. When we say "one of a kind" we mean it. I don't use any of the Amy Butler, Joel Dewberry, or Kaufman prints. Actually I am so sick of seeing those same prints on every bag.
So....what am I doing wrong? I think my bags are priced well. But I have seen some bags that are really under priced. I don't get how you can price some of them as low as they are. I don't think people realize that you have to add your time into the price. It's not just recouping your materials. You have to compensate yourself for the time you put into your craft. And when these are under priced it hurts all of us. I have seen some really beautiful bags on Etsy and on Ebay. And they are priced well. and then I see some that are just as nice that are priced a third and over less than the others. Sure...they are selling more but are they making money?
So I am down tonight. I had such high hopes for doing well. I know my Mom is feeling the blues too. Her dolls are the cutest ones on Etsy and they are definitely priced where they should be. Maybe even lower than they should be. And not a bite yet!
I hope this wasn't a mistake!

Yeah....my first entry!
So....I finally decided to do this. I have read so many of these. Some personal and some just for business. And then there are those in between. The problem....which one of those will I be.
Okay...first I am a fabriholic. I love fabric. I mean I looooovvvveeee fabric. I also love lace. Not the hard stiff white kind of lace. I mean beautiful soft lace. those soft muted colors like peach and pink and even soft blues and lilacs. I love the lace on wedding gowns...alencon in ecru and candlelight. I get nuts for satins and silks. I even tried to make custom bras and panties. I would have done well had I the patience. I found out unless it's for me it's just easier to go to a good department store with a good foundation department.
So I am the one who goes to the fabric store and picks out the 3 yards I need. then I find out there is this sale that if you buy 3 yards at $17.00 for another $10.00 you can get 2 more yards. Sounds good to me. I am the if one is good two is better and three is just the bomb! Guess how much fabric I have. It's really a sickness.
So now I sew and sew and sew. My Mom and I opened a shop in the Biltmore Village in Ashville, North Carolina. Mom is the real arty one. She is just so damn talented. Go take a peak at the shops. Her dolls are incredible. Her needlepoint canvases are gorgeous! You should see the way she does Christmas!
I have been a nurse since I was 23. Then a small bout with lymphoma knocked me out of my cape. I looked and couldn't find my fit for a long time. I sewed gowns for pageants for a long time. That is a bit much let me tell you. But my need for a purse to go with a specific outfit has blossomed into Bag Ladies, too. And I am in my glory. And I love it!
I am giving Etsy a go. I have been a bit discouraged but I am going to keep going. I know I can do this. they are one of a kind. And they are truly great looking bags. So I cross my fingers and toes. And I know I can do this!
